Following on the heels of MySpace’s announcement to allow websites to bring in profile data, comes Facebook with an almost identical feature. They’re calling it FaceBook Connect. Although it won’t actually launch for a few weeks, it will be, essentially, an overhaul of their 3rd party API which will give outside applications access to the same data that Facebook applications have now.
Google has just released an new tool called Friend Connect, which will allow you to do exactly the same thing Facebook and MySpace are planning on doing with any Open Social network. It looks like we’re about to see the full realization of Web 2.0. Pretty soon, meeting up with your friend’s online will be even easier than meeting them offline — and soon, whatever third party site you’re on, all your friends can come with you — automatically.
